CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OUR STUDENTS WHO COMPETED IN – LIBC 2006 – 20016
The Long Island Ballet Competition, LIBC, is a collaborative effort of dance schools directors and teachers who encourage their students to work for high standard of excellence in dance and for the appreciation and enjoyment of classical ballet.
The first Long Island Ballet Competition took place in 2006 at the Maguire Theater in Old Westbury.
The panel of judges included: Patricia Hayes Dokoudovsky (former ballerina of the New York Metropolitan Opera Ballet and Director of the Dokoudovsky Conservatory of Dance), Brett Raphael ( Artistic Director of Connecticut Ballet) and Richard Marsden (former dancer with New York City Ballet and Diablo Ballet).
In the following years The Long Island ballet Competition’s panel of Judges included
Otar Khelashvili (former principal dancer with The State Ballet of Georgia and currently Connecticut Ballet), Richard
Rosanna Seravalli (Former soloist with American Ballet Theater / Professor of Dance at Purchase College)
Lupe Serrano (Former Star of American Ballet theater / ballet faculty NY Metropolitan Opera Ballet)
Rinat Imaev (Former Principal Dancer of Sofia National Ballet, Bulgaria / Ballet Master with American Ballet Theater)
Marilyn D’Honau(Was in the original cast of J. Robbins ‘West Side story’ / Faculty:Arts Project 21 at New York University)
Harriett Clark (Broadway: “Phantom of the Opera” / ballet faculty, American Ballet Theater)
The number of participating schools increased. Several Independant competitors from
the New York City area and Connecticut also joined the events.
Many competitors are now dancing professionally and others have entered lead University on scholarships.
